I am seriously considering the 7DMk2 IF Nikon does not answer it in some way. The D750 IS NOT the D700 replacement regardless of what they named it. Lets see if Nikon does answer the bell with a D400/D9300. Nothing on the horizon based on the rumor sites though.

Since this marks the third year in a row that I haven't been in Austin to see the USGP, I thought I'd commemorate the occasion by posting a photo of Felipe Massa at the 2007 USGP in Indianapolis.

Finally, I started my third year as the Syracuse Crunch photographer. This goalie has been touted as the best Russian goalie since Vladislav Tretiak.

Along with two hockey games last weekend, I covered three high school championship games in the Carrier Dome. Sure am glad the ice will be white for the Frozen Dome Classic in less than two weeks. All that orange, plays havoc with white balance!

On a side note, the D7100 was TERRIBLE at getting focus. Hit rate was 75% if that. Missed a lot of good photos. I need to get a 300mm f/2.8 for field sports next year so I can use my D700 which hardly ever misses focus.

Oh, I know, there is. While I have never been happy with the D7100 focus, it was really bad in the Dome for some reason. Maybe all that Orange throws it off or I was just not on my game.

I'm surprised the focus was that bad, but then I hardly did any sports with mine before I sold it. How much of a crop was this? There's also more noise than I would have expiated for ISO4000.

Yeah, nothing beats the big glass for this kind of thing.

The D7100 is noisy. That's the highest ISO I let it go to. The focus was all over the place. Didn't matter whether I used single, 9 or 21 point settings in AF-C setting. For hockey 9 point usually works okay but nothing like 21 point on my D700. I bet I get 98% hit rate with it.

Keeping with the car theme, here's one @Scottwdw might like: A Boss 302 Mustang accelerating out of turn 2 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. And yes, it did rain a little during the race.

This weekend the Carrier Dome on the Syracuse University campus will host the Frozen Dome Classic. This is the first time ever hockey games has been played in the Dome. Dennis (@ddindy) and Dave (@ExploringWDW) are coming to assist me.

Father and Son on the ice at the Carrier Dome. Assistant Syracuse Crunch Coach Trent Cull talks with his son near center ice. I imagine Trent is telling him there will be close to 30,000 people in the stands come Saturday night.

30,715 people attended the Frozen Dome Classic in the Carrier Dome last Saturday. I want to thank Dave (@ExploringWDW) and Dennis (@ddindy) again for helping me. Dennis, especially, as he drove all the way from Indiana and had to dodge the huge lake effects snow which had closed down the NYS Thruway from the PA line to Rochester, NY.

You are welcome @Scottwdw ! Nice composition here, but you could have zoomed in a bit closer. You really can't see me that well... :)

I had the pleasure of riding in the elevator with this woman...

Quit complaining, @ExploringWDW - at least you're in the frame. I was stuck in the opposite corner of the rink and could only see her on the big screen!

It was a fun (if slightly disorganized) event. Thanks to @Scottwdw for inviting me and letting use his spare bedroom for the weekend.

Keep complaining and I won't ask ya the next time the Crunch decide to do something crazy though I have no idea how they could top the Frozen Dome Classic in our area. A neat trick would be to get a new multi-use sports arena built. The NY Governor asked the Syracuse Mayor for a billion dollar wish list. Be nice if a stadium (not for SU) would be on the list.
