Post your photos from Kilimanjaro Safaris in this thread.

Did you know that white rhinos got their name from their wide mouths? Of course you did, since you listened to what your safari driver said.

The early explorers should have used Google Translate...

I think they tried, but the Google Bird went extinct before it returned the answer. ;)

I think this may be the elephant equivalent of wrist wrestling:

Did you know that a gnu and a wildebeest are the same thing? That's the kind of trivia that you can pick up on Kilimanjaro Safaris.

I think I have more photos of giraffes on safari than any other animal. You'd think lions would be last on the list, but I really think the mandrils on Monkey Island bring up the rear.

I think this may be the best cheetah shot that I've ever been able to get. They usually hide in the weeds.

Several new young animals can be found on Kilimanjaro Safaris this year, including these three Greater Kudu. Fortunately, when they are startled by a passing vehicle, they stand motionless rather than running away.

    How do you do, kudu?

Another animal that I find is hard to see on safari is warthogs. I consider myself lucky to have found this pair out for a morning snack.

Dennis - I only recently noticed how you started all the sub-threads within the parks, and only just noticed this one in particular. I've often posted my Kilimanjaro shots within the POTC AK thread - but this is more focused. Nice shots you've got here so far!

BTW - I agree with you on the cheetah - those rocks are just about the best chance you get to see them closer and shoot them better - 99% of the time they're lying in the shade, on the ground, partially blocked, or up against the fence - so the few times they decide to come out and lounge on those rocks for some warmth, is usually the best time to snag them! I too got my best cheetah shots in that very same location:

You're right about the warthogs too. Looking back, I've only caught them out once or twice in many many trips! One time a few years back I was lucky to catch a baby one standing next to mom:

What's better on a hot day than having a fly swatter attached to your butt? Having a friend with a similar attachment.

Speaking of zebras, here's one of the addax that replaced the original herd right after Pixelmania 2013.

  14. Been away for a while...man, it's nice to see you guys still alive and kicking (and shooting)! I got lucky with this one. Those lions don't move often--even to lift their heads.

Great one Peter! I am not sure I have ever seen the male (other than his back end)!

They prefer the term "those with dependencies" over "addax".

Addax and "those with dependencies" reminded me of this video that popped up on my feed...
