So it looks like they are going to give on-property guests a 30 minute head start at every park every day... buuuuut... no more Magical Express to/from the airport starting January 2022. I suppose they expect the SunRail system to be running by then, but I’m not sure I’d be trusting of mass transit (with multiple stops) from the airport to Disney... and then still needing to transfer to the resort (all while dragging my luggage behind me).

Ugh ‍♀️. What’s the SunRail System? I guess it’ll be an Uber or Lyft? I loved the Magical Express and Airline service.

Sun rail was recently announced. They’re supposed to extend the rail line from Miami up to Orlando with a stop at MCO and then out to Disney Springs. The latest article I saw said ti will be running to Disney Springs sometime in 2022 or 2023. Can’t remember which off the top of my head.

Thank you. So how do we get from DS to our resort? Hop on a resort bus with our luggage ? :(

That’s a great question but I haven’t seen an answer yet. Unless they improve the resort buss frequency to deal with the extra load, Uber may be the best bet.

I suppose you will see a lot of people in line at the Springs bus stop with luggage... it’s already overloaded at times, now add a family of five with 2 suitcases each. It’s gonna be a nightmare if they don’t figure something out. They have a year or so to do that.

The ending of the Extra Magic Hours is the one that REALLY hurts me. Those were some of the best shooting times, when the parks were open late for resort guests in evenings. I never went to any Extra Magic hour mornings, only evenings, so the replacement perk of always having extra time in the morning does nothing for me. I'd say that I hope these are just temporary pandemic moves, but given the trend, likely not. Sad.

magic express was not free as so many thought, believe me, it is inside the rack rate and charged back to dvc costs for everybody. disney will just keep that money, since i really doubt hotel rates will go down. you will probably see the return of the mears presence, so the cost of disney vacation just went up probably $75-100 per head for round trip mco to resort, mears ran magical express anyway. you may see the return of the town car service to some degree, always a favorite of mine. i am not sure how the rental car market will be effected, prices went up after magical express took hold, but that was as much due to the major companies all reducing inventory at mco, a direct result of reduced demandwhich given the finite amount of space may not see a large increase in available cars, which in the future wouldn't surprise me to see mco develop an all in one rental car center as many large airports have done, and given they already know the technology, probably extend the air train out from the international terminal and loop back to the main terminal with the car center out on the airport fringe on boggy road south, near to entering 470. with the added bonus of being able to remove the rental garage, freeing up needed space for another domestic airside pod

it still surprises me because magic express, plus parking fees, all seemed to feed into the big disney springs shopping/dining push, families straying off property many times to eat, are families not spending it all inside the disney bubble, and you need transportation to leave the bubble

@gary, I’ve only known the Magical Express and will really miss this feature. Town car service? Will the rail service be up and running in a year?

What people don't seem to realize is that Brightline is a high-speed intercity train running from Miami to Orlando and then to Tampa. The new MCO to Tampa line will have a stations at Disney Springs, but they haven't said anything about running frequent commuter trains just to move tourists and their luggage between those two places. It may be a nice option for
@zackiedawg but not for airline passengers.

Business will fill the MDE void, assuming Mears doesn't have a political deal to prevent competition. There's no official Disney transportation to Disneyland, but there are shuttle vans and buses that you can book a ride on for a reasonable fee. And I doubt that ride-sharing will disappear.
