finally some decent weather today in south jersey. went to the forsythe wildlife sanctuary but pickens are still slim. hopefully the rest of the birds will start coming back soon. I was able to get this great blue heron using the D80 and tamron 200-500mm lens

Nice grab...I'm sure there are alot more BIFs to come from you. Our migrating birds are beginning to leave to head home, so maybe you'll have more to shoot soon.

shoo them birds up here Justin. they put 2 new platforms for the ospreys to build nests on that are closer to the road.
bifs.. are they related to mibs ? :)

Well done, Howie! Any raptor bugs out this time of year?

That was what I wished for when you, Tim and I drove through there last summer: closer Osprey nests plus you got 100mm more then what I brought with me.

I'll be going out to the local wildlife refugee next month to see what's made it up to upstate NY.

thanx again. no bugs yet scott. they arrive around august to carry people away. you should do fine with 400(600 with crop of course)
a few weeks ago was out there with a guy using a d300 with a nikon 600mm f 4 and a 2 x tele converter. talk about envy but I wont see a 10k lens in this life
