    ; Family entertainment company, The Walt Disney Co., spent more than $1.7 million lobbying the federal government in the third quarter, according to a recent disclosure form.

    The company's subsidiary, Disney (nyse: DIS - news - people ) Worldwide Services Inc., lobbied on a range of legislation, including the tax treatment of film productions, theme park safety, protecting children on the Internet and intellectual property.

    Yahoo! BuzzBesides Congress, Burbank, Calif.-based Disney also lobbied the White House, Commerce Department, Justice Department, Library of Congress, Federal Communications Commission, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and other agencies, according to the report for the July-September quarter filed Oct. 20 with the House clerk's office.
