3d Walt Disney World Resort for Google Earth

there seems to be a delay... unknown for how long...

COMING SOON!

Thanks for your interest in seeing Walt Disney World® Resort in 3D. Mickey and friends are working away to make it great, but it's currently still in development. Check back again real soon — we'll share more information just as soon as we can.

Wow is it running slow for me. I think it's memory issues, Google Earth already uses as much memory as I have and more, adding in all those buildings and textures puts me into hard drive paging land. That is it runs really slowly while it's paging the data to and from the hard drive.

Hopefully it won't be too much longer until I get my replacement RAM, then I can be back up to 2 gigs of memory and this should run a lot smoother.

I'm reasonably impressed with all the 3d modeling work, though. I'd like to know how this was done. The story I read of it mentioned pictures being used in the modeling, that suggests maybe they reconstructed the 3d structures from photographs. There are software tools for doing that.

it could be a server issue as well as i am sure 1000's of disney nuts are crushing the bandwidth right now. one thing i am surprised about... i figured this would be a downloadable layer rather than streaming it off the 'net every time.

I went this morning to look, but it was running really slow, and eventually froze my computer requiring me to hold down the power button.

But before that, I was in the parking lot and the pool at the Contemporary!
My first impression is that this is really cool, but then the reality sets in that I am not really there, and its not fair! :)

I ran through the Safari at AK and was a little disappointed that the entire ride didn't seem to be rendered. This might be due to many users as already stated.
