In August we got have dinner at Jiko!! So, we made time to take a tour of Animal Kingdom Lodge. We had a blast. AK Lodge is a beautiful resort!
Of course dinner at Jiko was wonderful (it always is). We shopped, walked around the lobby, went outside and looked at the savanna.
We even walked through Boma and Victoria Falls.
At night on the savanna there were cast members with night vision binoculars to see the savanna. That was really cool! I held a bigger scope up to my camera to try to take a night vision picture, but I couldn't get it to work.
Then we were able to find the Royal Asanti suite. I took a picture of the sign for fun.

I'm going to break up the 33 pictures into different posts by subject.
I took all the pictures with the Tokina 11-16 and tried to do 11mm for most shots.

The Savanna at night at The Animal Kingdom Lodge

Finally the most wonderful part of the night. The breeze was blowing and it was a nice summer night! A castmember told us the orange cast in the sky is from Animal Kingdom Park.

I don't know what type of lighting they're using, but high pressure sodium lamps will do that.

Fantastic set Craig, id love to know why Animal kingdom park makes the sky go orange

Probably the lights from the Animal Kingdom's parking lot. I know the lights in the AKL's parking lot cast an orange glow

That would make sense... I was trying to think where in the park they would use high pressure sodium lamps because Disney is so good at lighting that they wouldn't use them in the park because of the ugly orange light they put out, but I didn't think about the parking lot. If the parking lot lamps cast an orange glow, they're defiantly high pressure sodium

a lot of the lighting in the park is tungsten based so as to have a natural look instead of neon or fluorescent.

Outstanding, Craig! Makes me feel good for picking this lens up this week. I'll have some non-Disney pics to put up next week.

Thanks for the compliments everybody. Dina and I had a great night at AKL!

About the sky, the cast member told us it was the parking lot lights! This was the night TS Fay was coming so the night was very humid and the clouds were VERY low. It rained off and on the whole time we were there. I believe this caused the lights to show up much more than usual. It was really cool. It looked like the "Savanna" was on fire. I felt like were in an old movie!
