Blue Laser from AA

Anyone know what the blue laser coming out of the American Adventure's middle window is for? This was taken around 7pm. I found out Disney must contact the airport before each Illuminations show because of the lasers they use.

isn't the blue layer the one that "writes" on spaceship earth? never noticed it at 1900hrs before. interesting factoid about the FAA regulation.

Not sure, Tim. By the angle of this, it's not pointed at Spaceship Earth. In fact, I couldn't see where it was pointing to unless they have a test target or something. It was still there at 7:30pm when I took another photo of AA from the bridge between France and the UK.

I don't know if that's the same location they write on the globe with...but I know that laser is the one that shoots the big bands of laser through the smoke during the show. Here's a shot of the laser panning out over the water show, emanating from the AA building:

And a shot of the two beams shooting out before the show - this one around 8:30pm:

I don't think I've ever seen it quite so early. But I tend to agree with Tim - it's probably some form of calibration or test run they do each night.

That's about all...other than maybe some form of alignment/measurement beam they project before the show to calibrate or program the lasers. I have seen them on many times before the show begins...always those two beams.
