Canon 7D

Thinking of getting a[glow=red,2,300] Canon[/glow] [glow=red,2,300]7D[/glow]. ; Does anyone have experience with one and if so what were the pros and cons?
 
i do not have any personal experience with this model, however, i have done a little research. i recently upgraded to a 5d mk2, from a 5d. i got tired of waiting for canon to put the 7d auto focus into the full frame model. from the internet reviews, the upgraded af of the 7d, smokes everything canon has with the exception of the 1d pro series, which i believe is the 45 point af that was the top of the line in their pro film body. check out www.fredmiranda.com this site has reviews, and quite a few pros have now gone to a 2 body system, the 7d for sports and moving subjects, the 5dmk2 for all else. although i really didn't want to get another crop body, as i have given my ef-s lenses to my mother, along with my xti rebel body, i have enough primes that i can approximate the focal lengths i want, so i may get one myself, just for motorsports next summer.
 
I was thinking about it also, Doc, until Canon came out with the 60D. ; I was just at Best Buy today looking at them both, and I can't justify the cost difference between the two. ; They are almost identical except for FPS - 7D is faster, View Finder - 7D has 100% to 96% on 60D, and there was one other small difference that is escaping me at the moment. ; Basically the differences don't equal a $5-600 cost difference. ; Just my two cents. ; I actually like the way the 60D feels in my hands better also. ; They aren't very different in feel, but there was a slight size difference and the 60D was a little smaller. ; Hopefully someone else with actual experience with it can chime in and put their two cents in as well. :)
 
i forgot about the 100% viewfinder, that plus the autofocus are major differences to me, since i have a way too frequent ability to either cut something off with the edge, or i include those sliced thin people. and like i said, if you do any fast moving things, that af is a strong selling point
 
Here is a nice comparison of the 60D and the 7D I found. ; Looks like the really big difference is the autofocus. ; I also like that the 7D has a lens micro adjustment and the 100% view finder. ; Are these worth the extra cash? ; I don't know, probably boils down to personal preferences. ; I shoot a lot of marching band and have had trouble with the autofocus being slower than I like and have missed some shots because of it. ; So probably will go with the 7D. ; Would love to have the 5D MarkII but can't really justify that much more cash at my skill level.

get the 7d, you'll find a real upgrade in equipment there, and i forgot the microadjust, worth every penny, but you need to get the lensalign tool, that's worth the cost, and yes you should adjust for all your lenses, i found a fairly strong back focus in my 50mm f1.2 L, yeah that's right an L lens out of true, set the microadjust, now it's dead b***s on. yeah it's an industry term. the combo of the better af, and the adjustment should really reduce your focus errors, plus the 7d coupled with modern usm lenses should be lightning fast focus, like i said before, many pros over on fm have gone to the 7d when they get a sports assignment. and if you do get it, now consider holding it for a few years and going to L glass, the best glass available for any system is always a good choice. the 24-105, followed by the 35 f 1.4, then the 135 f2, plus the 1.4 tc would make a pretty powerful all around sports and travel set
