Cooling pad

Does anyone use any type of cooling pad under their laptop? My dad is ALWAYS complaing that his laptop gets to hot under his lap and sometimes uses a pillow. I thought this might be a good Christmas present - any reccomendations?

I don't use a cooling pad with mine, but I usually put a thick book under it when I have it on my lap (the dictionary works well). You shouldn't use a pillow or any other soft object under the laptop because most of them have air vents on the bottom and the pillow will block them and cause the laptop to heat up even more, which could damage the laptop.
