You know that you are in an "f8 and be there" situation when you're standing in a line of 8 photographers all with telephoto lenses on tripods and you can hear every motor drive firing at the same time. ; Yesterday at the state park at the south end of Manasota key, Charlotte County, Florida, ; I found myself in such a situation. ; Some photographers had been waiting for the better part of the day waiting for some action by the fledgling great horned owls in a nest. ; I did not arrive at the site until about 5:30 PM and stayed until the park closed at 6:30PM. ; Fortunately for me that was when all the action occurred. ; The fledgling owls are just a day or two away from leaving the nest permanently. ; They were putting on a show of flying from one side of the nest to the other and going off to nearby trees. ; I was using a Nikon D-7000 with a Nikon 400mm lens on tripod. ; ISO 800, f5.6 at 1/3200sec for most of the shots. ; ;
