Can you post the 0 image to compare. ; There's a lot of detail in the feathers here.

HDR can work as far as detail and such, but I have tried them on birds too - I think birds really need the contrast and shadows to give them dimensionality and depth, and that's what HDR tends to lose. ; The shot itself and the detail can work out, but it ends up a bit flat unless you tone-map the daylights out of it - in which case might as well have just left the HDR off!
