Holiday Wishes from the Contemporary

We were able to watch 4 wishes shows because of the parties and the regular show.

I shot these in a completely different manner this time. When you watch wishes from a distance without any music you quickly realize how LONG it is between firework shots.
So, I decided to shoot bulb at f9 or f11 and open the shutter before and after every firework.
This allowed some nice long exposures to get ambient lighting and a nice complete firework shot.

The last photo for example is a 23.4 second exposure.
All the photos have the exif data embedded still, if you want to look at the different exposures.

thanks Roger. I think they are the best I've ever got. I have a difficult time with fireworks. I really have a hard time not overexposing and timing it right.

Excellent work. I like the different distant angle too. Looks like the longer exposure worked nicely - the colors are rich and the detail and sharpness are excellent - plus you managed some of those big blasts without blowing them out (I had no luck - the finales completely blew out for me).

Great photos Craig. Hopefully, I'll eventually be able to start posting shots I took at MouseFest

Wishes from the Contemporary

In February, I tried my new method again. This time I used a longer lens and just focused on the castle. These are all shot bulb with f11 to f16. full exif is still embedded in each photo.

#542 is 42.7 seconds at f11 (thats tinkerbell flying down from the castle)
#545 is 15.9 seconds at f11
#549 is 9.2 seconds at f11
#556 is 10.1 seconds at f13
#558 is 17.8 seconds at f13 (I included this one for the color of the castle)
#562 is 17.3 seconds at f13

And here are three more. Here I stopped down to f16 anticipating the finale, which I usually overexpose.

#564 is 44.3 @f16
#565 is 25.2 @f16
#567 is 7.1 @f16

I really like #556 Craig. I'm a fan of alternative location fw shots as well.

But I also have the :o at the exposure time of #542 and 564.

Thanks roger.
Yeah, there is A LOT of time between some of the fireworks shots, especially since I was zoomed in on the castle and ignoring the bigger blasts further back.

Here are my shots from 2008.
I figured out how to shoot holiday wishes from the contemp this year. I need three camera setups.
One tight on the castle,
one wide with the castle and space mountain,
and one super wide for the finale.
Now, to convince Dina!
