Hyperion Wharf announced for DTD

Based on my past experiences in the Downtown Disney/Pleasure Island district, I would say that tripod use would have to be a complete guerrilla effort since the security and law enforcement people seem to think it's against the rules

Seeing how tripods suddenly appear for Wishes[sup][1][/sup], I am thinking this area is going to very popular for night photography.

[sup][1][/sup] I am talking about the ones used for P&S cameras from Far East tourists.

If I'm ever using a tripod at DTD, and security approaches and tells me, "We don't allow professional photography here!" I'll just give 'em the standard Jack Sparrow reply:

"I'm terribly sorry, I didn't know. If I see one, I shall tell you immediately!"

I'll enjoy seeing new stuff come to DTD, but I will never forgive Disney for closing the Adventurer's Club.

Well it's gone for good now. ; Things change; I still miss Horizons, but it too will never come back.[nb]Even though it was the backbone for the entire Disney Empire: ; If you can dream it, you really can do it[/nb]

Here is the comment that I just posted to the blog. ; Let's see if it gets through moderation.

"This is wonderful, now can we have the Adventurer’s Club added back in as one of the new establishments? ; PLEASE?!"

It was worth a try. ;)

I had to re-reply because I read your post in my mind in Jack Sparrow's voice. ; Thanks Dr. Farnsworth!

Well, the many times I've been approached by security, not a single time did they accuse me of being a professional photographer. ; I was just told that tripods aren't allowed and it's strictly enforced. When I pressed further on one of the incidents I was told that the rules at Downtown Disney aren't the same as the parks due to the fact that there is not bag checks or security measures coupled with the fact that locals can come and go as they please, it's more of a security risk.

So, in some vague way, that particular security officer made it sound like tripods are tools of terrorists....haha

Which item Roni?

In a nutshell, where PI once stood they are planning on making a Hyperion Wharf "destination" at Downtown Disney. ; And they are expanding the Lego Store, to encourage people staying at Disney to continue using DME rather than renting a car and going to Legoland which will be opening late next year.

Thank you, Roger and hello. ; :) ; I can always count on you to enlighten me. ; I haven't been keeping up very well with my Disney news. ;

So... It's not a Tripod, it's a BiPod with Telescopic Leg Envy? ; Or a Mutant Monopod?

I'll keep on being bold and using my tripod in DD...have yet to have any problems using one there and am surprised how many others mention that they do. ; I even shot last time with my DSLR, alternated between 3 lenses, used a cable release, and set up shots for 5 or 6 minutes at a time taking multiple exposures, right in the middle of West End...no comments. ; Maybe you other folks just need to put a piece of black tape across the front of your camera, and write the word 'Sony' in white on it - apparently we Sony DSLR shooters don't appear professional or threatening at all! ; :)

Awesome idea! ; I wish I would have thought of that in January...
