Well, looks like high property taxes isn't enough for our New York lawmakers. Starting today, Amazon.com and other Internet retailers must collect sales tax even if they don't have a physical presence in the state. Thank you, New York! :P

At least, this makes B&H and other New York photo stores back on my list to order from. Too bad they charge shipping.

I wonder how long until Maryland - the state that never met a tax it didn't LOVE - follows suit.

You know, mail-order business has been around for about 150 years, and it's only since the internet replaced physical catalogs that people are talking about collecting taxes from out-of-state mail order sales.
 
getting ready to order the 135 f2L, i'll have to check keh and see if i can slip in before they start to try to make them collect, may get away with it as they have no prescence in ny and are small potatoes compared to amazon
