Inspiration for Velcro

Photography and flickr are teaching me alot of interesting things along this journey. ; I just learned last night, as a result of taking a photo of something for which I had no ; knowledge at all, that this annoying little prickly thing that sticks to everything is called a Burdock burr and was the inspiration for what we know today as velcro. ; It's quite a beautiful little thing on close inspection, at various stages throughout the year. ; I included the link if anyone is interested in reading about it further.

annoying little prickly thing that sticks to everything

tell me about it, i've spent many an hour over the years getting them out of the golden retrievers hair, and since for much of 1990 to 2008 we always had 2-3 of them it added up

I've got a golden as well, and they seem to naturally be attracted to the areas full of burrs.

As a kid, I was attracted to areas full of these things (we called them "hitchhikers"). ; I have spent many many hours of my life prying them from out of my socks, and the absolute worst, out of shoelaces - which no matter how careful you are, will result in you bleeding from holes in your fingertips.

Nice shot, BTW! ; They're much more interesting in photos than in my socks.
