I think after this trip I better upgrade from iPhoto, but can't figure out which would be better for a beginner. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

    Do you have PS?

I would recommend that you try both, however, A2 will integrate with iPhoto libraries and back and forth. The trial version are fully functional, with no watermarking, so it doesn't hurt to try!

No, I don't have ps for my mac. But I think that I'm leaning toward A2 since it will integrate with iPhoto and I can get it pretty cheap with a student discount. I'll def give it a whirl. Thanks so much Roger!

    Deniz,

I am using Lightroom 2 on the Mac and like it a lot. They have made many improvements since the first version and it includes many features that previously were only available in photoshop. You can also get a nice student discount for Lightroom (and Photoshop) as well.

I agree with Roger, try both trial versions and see what you like.

I am partial to A2 BTW. And if you're inclined, you may want to try Bibble as well.
