I don't have money in the budget to make a lens purchase, but I'm being asked to take some staged photos while on my trip to Disneyland next weekend. ; Since my wife's sisters are all going to be nearby, one of them (that lives in Long Beach and logs at least 52 days in DL a year) thought it would be cool to take some group shots around the outside of Disneyland (Downtown Disney, resorts, etc).

Well, I'm thinking I'm going to need to use my SB-600 to help get some good shots, but is there any accessories that might help me get better shots? ; I already have the ExpoDisc, cable release, and tripod.
 
perhaps one of those folding round reflectors, silver one side, gold the other, but then you need someone to hold it off to the side and bounce the flash off it for in indirect warming look
 
Can anyone recommend a good diffuser for the Nikon SB-600? ; The newer SB-800/900 comes with one, but I'm not sure if I'm going to have to go 3rd party or not for the SB-600?
 
I just picked up a Sto Fen for my Canon 580EX II flash, still experimenting! ; I am reading Joe McNally's book, "The Hot Shoe Diaries" and he mentioned using the Lumiquest products very often. ; He also uses a dome diffuser which is what I believe the StoFens are called even when he is shooting through another large panel diffuser. ; Of course he also uses multiple flashes, so he is in a different league than us (me). ; At least they are unobtrusive whereas the Lumiquest and softboxes can make your flash seem a bit larger.
 
One of the drawbacks to the 600 is that you may not have enough power to put it through some of the diffusers. To get around that, never underestimate what bounce will get you.

Personally, I'd go with a tri-grip or other defuser to make your light source as big as possible. Again, the power factor may come into play here.

Any way you cut it though as Gary mentioned, it's tough when you don't have a VALS (voice activated light stand) to help! ;)
 
I've pretty much decided to roll with what I have and see what kind of results I can get. ; Since most of the pictures will be outside, I'll see what the SB-600 can do with the sunlight being a natural diffuser.

I am loving what I'm seeing from the Gary Fong Whaletail though. ; I think I saw someone at MouseFest 2008 using one
