And also Nikon is supposed to be releasing a 24-120 f/4 VR this year. ; I'm going to go out on a limb and state publicly that I think Canon's next announcement later this month is going to be an updated 24-105 f/4 IS of somekind (it may be 24-120 as well), esp. with the new IS system they have. ; Canon's announcement timing seems like a game of chess they are playing with Nikon..... (see below)

And B&H is now accepting preorders on the 16-35.

And you said they would never make this one. ; :D ; Not sure how long it takes to go from patent to product but I'll be one of the first in line for this lens if they make it!
 
Yes yes I was wrong, unless it ends up being more expensive than Canon's streetsweeper. ; :-[
