Nikon rumors point to: New 70-200/2.8 and new 18-200 DX

Of course the former has "been expected" ever since Nikon released a full frame sensor. ; This is to go with the D3000 and the D300s coming out.


On a side note, I don't think Canon has anything in the pipeline right now. ; They seem to have a late fall announcement planned, since they announced last week that they will be releasing a new Image Stabilization system for their lenses later in the year, probably a 100/2.8 Macro IS. ; But this is the first time I've seen Canon announce that they will be announcing a product later in the year. ; Kind of like Disney saying "We're going to announce new rides at one of our theme parks sometime in December of this year"[nb]Fantasyland renovation? ; DAK renovation? ; Star Tours 2.0?[/nb]

I'm still upset about the 300s. ; That has the extra feature or two that I would've liked to have and would keep me from feeling like needing to upgrade to the D700 for a few more years

NR just added specs for the 70-200:

"The new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 70-200 mm f/2.8G ED VR II should have the following specs (from my previous post):

; ; * Weight 1540g (70 grams more than the current model)

I assume they made it shorter to help correct the vignetting issue that many people complain about. ; It hasn't been much of an issue for me, especially with the on board camera vignetting fix that's built in to the D700.

Personally I'm still hoping for a new 24f1.4. ; I'm also hoping that the release of the 24f1.4 would drive the price of the 28f1.4 down to a reasonable price, but that's probably not very likely...
