It's sad to say, but I'm not surprised at all given the crime issues in Rio. I hope he or the news agency he worked for had the gear well insured.

In one of those "you can't fix stupid" moments, the camera thief decided to wear the stolen photographer's jacket into a secured area. The photographer he stole the gear from spotted him and helped apprehend the thief.

It is really a shame they do not seem to be able to get a handle on that cities problems, by all photos it seems to be mostly a beautiful city
