Oooohhhh...Tokina 11-16 in Lake George, NY

Took my new Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 lens out for a shakedown this past weekend. What better place than Lake George, NY, on a perfect Autumn weekend. I had a lot of fun with this lens indoors and out. Found for wide vistas, 11mm was almost too much unless I had something of interest in the foreground. However, 16mm had that extra punch my trusty 18-200VR was lacking at 18mm though it did a very good job itself which I'll post as I get them uploaded later this week.

BTW, if you haven't seen my latest Picture This! Blog entry, check it out as I used Da Grip a lot this trip with excellent results.

Fort William Henry's "dungeon". I put the dungeon in quotes because according to the tour guides, there was never a dungeon but, since tourists like dungeons, they put one in when rebuilding the fort.

This canon fires on to the village of Lake George, NY, every hour from 9am to 5pm each day about 40 minutes after the hour.

The next two were taken at the summit of Prospect Mountain both at 16mm as 11mm was too much.

Here's a mountain path up the summit of Prospect Mountain. Note the trees do lean in this is not a lens effect.

Very nice Scott!! The kids on the viewers is my favorite.

They were fun. Though their Dad refused to give them any quarters to use them. ::) They still tried! I am always taking photos of those things. Maybe I'll publish a book of them someday. ;D

The hike from the parking area to the summit was a good workout. :D I am not in good enough shape to do the climb from the village. I read about it. :) I did do a "foot trail" at the first lookout stop which turned into a decent climb up some rocks. The view was much better. I'll post some when I get them processed.

goofy101,

I have some better ones coming. Be on the lookout at the Non-Disney board this week.

Craig,

Thanks! Can't wait to try out this lens at WDW in December. I found this to be a bit lighter in weight than Tokina's 12-24 and not as big to handle. Really enjoyed using it.
