Now that we have the park days laid down, we're planning individual meets, so here's one (with apologies to Maureen McGovern): There's Got To Be A Morning Africa...
As many of you know, Tagrel.com is holding its yearly gathering, Tag-o-Mania, the same weekend as Pixelmania. As there are several folks who are members of both sites, and will be attending both gatherings, I proposed to Tim and to the people at Tagrel that we hold a mixed meet, where the memberships of both sites can have a chance to mingle and get to know one another. And they agreed. Both sites will undoubtedly gain some additional members, and knowing both groups as I do, I know we'll all have a lot of fun. So this is it!
Each year at Tag-o-Mania, and at Mousefest before it, Tagrel has held a morning Africa meet. Since Expedition Everest opened, the itinerary has been thus:
1) Be to AK about 30 mins before official opening, and wait in the interminable lines to get through the turnstiles and up to the rope on Discovery Island for the park opening ceremony.
2) When the rope drops, make like a bread truck and haul buns to Expedition Everest, and be amongst the first riders of the day.
3) After the ride, everybody grabs a FastPass for Expedition Everest, then moves on to Kilamanjaro Safari.
4) After the Safari, our FP window for Everest will be open, or near, so we ride it again.
5) Anyone left standing after the second Everest ride can then break up for individual touring, but many will typically walk the Pangani Falls Trail and Maharaja Jungle Trek at a -ahem- more sedate pace.
NOTE: If you don't do coasters or thrill rides, no biggie - there is always a large contingent of Wall Holders who will hold up the walls for us outside the attractions. This works out well, because those folks also hold all of our stuff for us when we ride - bags, purses, murses, monopods, bipods, tripods, quadrapods, chairs, stools, ladders, chutes, whatever.
I'll be coordinating with the hosts of Tagrel's meet, and hopefully we'll all have a few laughs, get a few good pics of the animals, and of each other, and when the whole thing is over the world will be just a little better place than it was when we started.
So who's in?
