Thank you - I didn't pay attention to this when I took the picture but noticed it last night. Am I wrong in thinking there used to be a mast and sail on this ship?

it used to be a children's play area that they could climb all over so i think you are correct with that.
 
Did they take the play area part of it down ? If so, too bad. My son always enjoyed running onto the ship.

Gdad - I like the colouring on the picture a lot ? That's not natural lighting is it ? Did you use a filter, or post processing on that ? That's one of those shots that's itching for some crazy retouching with Photoshop - adding different color layers to the clouds, etc.

the play area is gone, as far as i know. it's just a sight piece now.

I made a sepia tone image out of it but then overlayed it on the color version and blended slightly so there is a hint of the original tones in it as well. I tend to add that to my B&W's a lot but sometimes it works better than others. Thanks for looking.

the ship is toast. When we went in October 2008 it wasnt there at all. now its back in pieces.

I saw the pieces there in January...Don't know if they're just being nostalgic, or had nowhere else to put them! ; Seems like they ought to put something in that space...at least if they're not going to wedge another country in there. ; (I'm still holding hope for a country or two to be added someday - like Russia or Australia).
