That's certainly a LOT closer than I've ever been able to get to one. My closest wood duck was about 150 feet away - small in the frame even at 600mm. They are lovely ducks indeed...nice to not only get so close but also to have cooperative sun!

I was never able to get close to them before this and they always flew off before I could get a shot. I was about 12 ft away at times and they didnt care
this is the female at 270mm FL on a crop body so equal to about 400mm on a full frame. ISO was at 4000 due to being in shadow.d500 and nikon 200-500
