Black Rapid Strap users

Ok guys I want one after seeing a few of you with them at Pixelmania! ; I was wondering though, which one you have, and your thoughts on it. ; Thanks for the help and info.
 
RS-7 with FastenR-2. ; Love it, main strap of choice now. ; Bought body plates specifically with a "monopod" mount on them so I can screw my strap onto the plate(s). ; (it doesn't take that long to switch from the body to a long lens)
 
I have the basic RS-4 and love it. ; Once I used it with a 70-200; screwed it into the tripod socket on the lens and it balanced perfectly.

I tried using the pocket on the strap to hold memory cards, but found that they sit on my collar bone and cause a little discomfort.

At Pixelmania I had it on my battery grip and found that the standard FastenR-3 got in the way under my hand in portrait mode. ; I just purchased a FastenR-3 to see if it feels any better.

One minor complaint is that the strap tends to move off my shoulder and down my back occasionally when I raise the camera, so I purchased a BRAD strap to keep the whole thing in place. ; I'll let you know how it works out.

I also have the FastenR-T1 mounted on a Manfrotto quick-release plate. ; I haven't had a chance to use it enough to give an opinion.
 
I just noticed that the RS-7 has a curved shoulder pad. ; I wonder if that fits better. ; The RS-Sport looks intriguing, too.
 
I have the RS-7 with FastenR-2 combo as well and have enjoyed them for close a year now. ; ; And yes the pad is slightly curved.


I ordered the new FastenR-T1 before Pixelmaina, but did not use it since there were some issues with fitment on the Manfrotto plates. ; It allows you to use your black rapid strap with a Manfrotto RC2 quick release plate. ; They have since redesigned the connector and started shipping them out last week. ; Mine should arrive next week.
 
The issue was that on some Manfrotto plates, the fastener would not allow the quick release plate to sit properly into the locking mechanism on the tripod which is not good! ; Apparently the Fastener was originally machined a bit to deep and therefore cause the misfit with the plate. ; They have worked with Manfrotto to correct the problem. ; We shall see.


Some people have not had the issue and it probably has something to do with variances with the Fastener and/or the plates.
 
I didn't notice any problems with mine when I used it at Pixelmania, so I guess I was one of the lucky ones. ; I'm going to re-check the fit just to be safe.
 
I received the new version of the FastenR-T1 and it fits just fine. ; The head end part of the screw is just slightly smaller(thinner) and allows the plate to sit in the tripod correctly.
