But when you get to the $500 mark, it's almost best to move up to dSLR. Even Nikon is pushing this with their Picturetownâ„¢ series and the D40.

i took tim advise i just purchased cannon rebel xti. I think i made a good choice. Your ideas?

Yes; it is a good starter dSLR.

i recommended this camera body specifically because of the price and the room to grow which it afforded. it's a great way to get used to the dynamics of using an advanced camera without spending tons of money upfront. good luck with it and welcome aboard.
