Sounds nice! Note, however, that this lens does not have IS (or "VR" for you Nikonians). The same lens with IS would be about double the price!
 
you are correct, sir. ; i had this lens before and it is tack sharp, and the least expensive L zoom that you can get. ;
 
i still have this lens, and i 2nd that about tack sharp, and mates well with 1.4 teleconvertor, for a nice travel combo, just wish it did not have the white barrrel to attract street people doing freelance fence appraisal
and there actually are some people on the net making the argument that this is sharper than the newer is version when tripod mounted
