Canon G12 Polarizing Filter question

G'day everyone,

I am picking up a filter adapter for my G12 tonight and I have a question about the filters. ; Specifically, I am trying to decide between Linear or Circular for my G12. ; So far what I have gathered from the web is that for the G12 a linear will serve me just fine and that you only really need a circular if you have an SLR to avoid messing with the auto focus. ; They are also suggesting that a circular will decrease the amount of light getting through by another noticeable notch.

I would say you are correct. ; It shouldn't affect the camera's focusing system.

Polarizers do lower the amount of light entering the camera, resulting in slower shutter speeds. ; Circ polarizers work to deepen color saturation and reduce glare on non -metallic objects such as glass and water. ; They work best at 90 degrees to the sun. ;

Go circular. ; They have no effect on focusing. ; Just beware of slightly slower shutter speeds 1-1.5 stops +/- ;
