Concert Photos

I thought I'd share some photos I took at two recent concerts. ; The first set are from the high school that my sister attends. ; The Jazz Ensemble that she's in puts on an "Evening at the Night Club" each spring and they go to great lengths[nb]It usually takes 30 people 8 hours to set up. ; We set a record this year and did it in 6 1/2 hours[/nb] to decorate the school cafeteria to make it feel like a night club. ;

The second set is from a jazz big band that is based near me. ; They are a very popular band and play at many events in the Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, DC region. ; The band is made up of some of the most talented musicians in the region from a wide range of backgrounds including some former members of the U.S. Army Jazz Ambassadors and the U.S. Navy Commodores. ; Most of the events they play are private parties and weddings, but they also do 2 or 3 public ones each year. ; The bandleader invites his best students to join the group for a couple of tunes at one of their gigs at a local summer concert series they play at each year. ; My sister takes lessons from him and has played at this event the last 3 summers.

Very nice shots - great crisp lighting, nice shallow DOF from those nice, bright, fast lenses with nice bokeh. ; I especially like the circular bokeh on the blue background in the dark high school shots.

Excellent sets Michael. ; My favorites are #2 and #4 from the school set and #2 from the jazz set. ; Nice work throughout though.
