Down at the dam today

Not really the best of weather but at least it wasn't scorching hot. ; I wanted to continue taking my new baby out for a spin, so I brought out the 300/2.8 with the 1.7xTC, so after a crop factor it's like shooting with a 765mm, f/4.5-5ish lens. ; The TC doesn't talk to the body so the EXIF doesn't include the TC values.

Very windy, used a monopod in addition to steady shot. ; Most of the migratory birds seem to have moved on, but the turtles were out:

A little cropping for that one, but it was the closest critter.

765mm was no where near what I needed for where the birds were downstream. ; Upstream there were two cormorants, even with cropping where far enough away:

They were sitting on the markers that signify the no-go zone near the dam, making it a crime to travel on the water beyond the marker.

I noticed something hanging from the dam as well:

Very little cropping on that one.

Here's a 100% crop:

Thanks everyone. ; Gary, Howie: ; I have no idea. ; But that's why Austin is weird.
