First WDW Trip - Help Wanted

So I am making my first trip to Disney in about a month and I am looking for some tips. I am hoping to take some pictures of Wishes my first night and after reading through some of the post here I think I am going to try and set up at Casey's Corner. Other than that I dont know what I plan on doing picture wise, obviously a lot of it will be in moment ops, but I am mainly looking for general tips. I am very new at photography so any ideas on camera setup for some of the harder to photograph areas (like Pirates maybe) would be great.

I have a Nikon D3000 with a 18-55 and a 55-200, would just carrying the 18-55 be sufficient for me? I am guessing that I will most certainly need the longer lens at Animal Kingdom if I want to get some good safari shots but other than that would there be a need for it?

I have never tried to shoot the dark rides with a slower lens like the 18-55. Hopefully some of the others on the site have some tips for that. ; I always shoot them with a fast prime capable of shooting at f1.4 or f1.8. With a fast lens, depending on the ride you'll need to set the camera somewhere between 1600-6400 ISO. ;

The 55-200 would also be helpful if you shoot Wishes from the TTC Ferry Dock, shooting Lights Motors Action and Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular. ;
 
Not sure if I will be able to get a new lens before I go so I will just have to hope I can get some good shots with what I have. But thanks for the suggestion, maybe it will be my next purchase.
 
you'll need both those lenses, esp the 55-200 racked out to 200 most of the time on the safari ride, if ; your budget allows, rent a fast prime, doesn't have to nikon, but i'd recommend matching equipment, most of us on here have at one time or other been satisfied customers of wwww.lensrentals.com, i see no mention of a tripod, are you bringing one, these are really necesary for those magical night photos of the world
 
Ah yes the tripod. I have a cheap, but sturdy, one that I got years ago that I will be taking with me the first night for my Wishes shots, and beyond that I will have my gorilla pod with me at all times. I also picked up the nikon remote and will be giving it a go during wishes.

I looked at lensrentals.com a little this weekend and I might go that route in order to rent a fast prime. At the very least it will allow me to see if I want to purchase one at a later time. With the D3000 should I go with a 30mm or 50mm? If I understand correctly the 50 will get turned into a 75 and the 30 to a 45 on a DX so 75 seems a bit long.
