Something that bugged me when I was photographing flocks of flying geese was the shallow depth of field I used. ; You look like you ; have enough light to work with. ; You might want to try stepping down a stop or two to see if you can get more of the birds in focus. ; I, of course, probably won't get out soon to try it myself. ; Tomorrow is going to be the last warm day (around 60) for a long time. ; And I have lots of yard work to get done. :
thanks Roger and Scott. Yea I noticed that too Scott. the shallow DOF. the one goose is sharp and the ones behind it are blurry. I was at
f 7.1 and iso 400 with a shutter of 1/ 1250. guess I should have bumped the iso and stopped down to f9. I was hand holding too as I need to invest in a good tripod next.
It has been cold here Scott so I know how you feel. It was 38 at forsythe with a 10 mph wind so it was a tad chilly but this is the time when the best birds are there.
