Illuminations!

You mentioned you processed this differently than you have other firework shots. ; Could you explain that a bit more? ; Would really appreciate it!!!!!

That's a new place to shot from.
 
super nice! definitely need to capture some illuminations during Pixelmania. ; July 4th was just too crowded.

Well, I used to try my hardest to eliminate blown highlights in fireworks shots. Lately, I've come to terms with the fact that it's either impossible or results in very dull shots. The other thing was using the LAB channel to boost the colors and I was rather happy with the results. Oh, and thanks everyone for the compliments! It means a ton!

Lovely work both, and a new perspective (I've never watched from Germany).

My 'usual' spot (the one I'm at most often, but I have seen it from a few different spots) is just over the bridge between UK and France, on the France side:

I dunno...As someone who really likes Illuminations, it seems like this would be one of the worst angles possible. ; To me, at least, the earth barge is the essential element of the show, and it looks like you can't see it most of the time. ; Can you see it?
 
Justin, I especially love the last photo. ; Seeing things from a different perspective is always a good thing, in my book.

You can see it from that area, just a little right or left of where I was for those shots. ; The globe is visible from France, and from the bridge to England. ; I personally don't mind if I miss the globe sometimes, since I see the show so often, and the new perspective for photography, and the fact that it's a less crowded spot because of the 'impeded view', makes it wonderful for someone like me who shows up for Illuminations 1 or 2 minutes before it starts, rather than stake out a spot and wait for it.

I guess being a Florida resident does give you certain advantages over us folks who only see the show 2-3 times per year! I love the show so much (and given how little I see it), I don't think I could go for anything but the best vantages, even if that means I can't shoot the show. I have so many unprocessed Illuminations shots that I'd much rather enjoy it than shoot it.
