National Zoo

I went to the Zoo with my family this past Sunday morning. ; Even though it rained for about 10 minutes, we got really lucky with the weather. ; Most of the morning it was cloudy with a few brief moments of sunshite, making it perfect for animal photography and also not as hot as it could have been. ; Here's a couple of my favorites:

On the way out, we caught the cheetahs doing something other than lying on the ground[nb]Looks like Disney sent those V2.0 Animatronic Cheetahs to Washington [/nb]

And last but not least, we have the zoo's newest baby gorilla, Kibibi (pronounced kee-BEE-bee) with her mother, Mandara. ;

Kibibi was born on January 10, 2009 and her name means "little lady" in Swahili.

Wonderful shots! ; What I like about the National Zoo (besides free admission) is that it is open early in the morning. ; I was also lucky with cheetahs when I was there last summer as they had the animatronics working also. ;
