Nikon announces the new 300/2.8 VRII and TC20III

Hmmm...the new 2x TC works with my 70-200 VR lens with no limitations. ; It will be interesting to see if it's better then the older model which was generally panned by reviewers.

Jeff, think you might be a tad low on your offer but they will be popping up once the new lens comes out. ; :)

Scott, I didn't mention it because I must have missed it, but Nikon's claiming that the TC is the first ever TC with aspherical elements....so it's a brand new design.

The 300 seems to be a minor update apart from the new VR. ; Apparently the 300 had a silent upgrade to Nano coating a while back....so there are technically TWO versions of the old 300/2.8 VR. ; One just has ED on the lens plate, the other has the N designation.

That part caught my eye, too. ; Also their use of the word "professional" which meant two thing to me: quality and high price. ; $499 for a TC is not cheap though I've been pricing the 1.7x TC for a while now and anything in the $350 to $400 range is a good deal. ; You figure you lose two stops with it which would make it a 400mm f/5.6 which I already have with the 80-400VR. ; Something to think about.
