Nice - I always enjoy ospreys...especially since I don't get the privilege of shooting eagles down here.
I had the problem last week of ospreys getting TOO close - this guy looked like he was going to run into my lens with the 300mm F4 and 1.4x teleconverter:
And that's NOT cropped! ; I had trouble keeping him in the viewfinder at that closing speed.

I still can't seem to get much luck with catching one while he's fishing - they don't seem to want to do that when I'm there.
nice shots Justin. I get them close when they go by with a fish back to the nest but not that close. I have never gotten one catching a fish as that is just pure luck being in the right spot when it happens. Forsythe is an 8 mile loop so lots of water around
Yea Scott I figured you could crop some with the d700. Just wanted to give you an idea of what to expect with the 80-400 reach on that nest. Hope we get low tide too for the skimmers which are even closer.
Now if it would just warm up here. it is still way below norm temps for this time of year
