one nest claimed. Scott the pic of the nest is not cropped so you have an idea of what you will need. this is at 500mm with the D7000 (750MM crop factor)
there is another platform closer to the road that I hope they use too which is also great in morning light

You rang? ; Thanks, Howie! ; I'll have 600mm range on the D70. ; Maybe more if I decide to rent the Sigma.

Started making plans for the trip over the weekend. Sunrise is around 5:30AM that week. ; How early do you usually arrive at the refuge?

I usually get there around 630 to 7 in the summer. hope we have low tide too which is great for skimmer shots
I will take a shot of the other one that is closer. the closer one is where I took all my osprey shots last summer

Nice shots Howie! ; I like that one of the blackbird! ; I am still waiting on my machine, if only I knew before! ; At least I know now!

Re: osprey nest attn Scottwdw again

here is the closer one Scott without any cropping
John I am keeping my fingers crossed for you

You are making it hard for me not to rent that Sigma. ; Hope someone shows interest in that site. ; Looks like prime real estate to me but I'm not an osprey. ; :)

Scott I will have to take a pic of that nest at 400mm. I will use the d90 and my tamron 70-300 to get a view of it for you at 400mm so you know if you need to rent the sigma.
another idea is for you to borrow my D90 and use that with the 80-400

Thank you for the offer, Howie. ; But I still have my D70 which is DX though I would use the Sigma on both bodies. ; If any birds are close in the D700 would be much better to use. ; The weather will also determine which one I use. ; The D70 with long, slow lenses needs good light.
