Thanks to both of you! I used to live in Central VA, one story house tons of trees around and couldn't get any night shots what so ever but since moving to MO we have rolling hills and open land around Eureka so I'm lucky and love it a lot. What a great picture by the way!! Very cool with all the other (lighting fingers) I call it lol.
I'm not to familiar with my camera but the first time I was able to go out while it was storming I played around with it and got a really long exposure but didn't have my tripod so it was blurry and tons of light from all the lights we have here. I messed with it more and got it to have a really quick shot and that's how I caught the first picture with the color and everything. Last night I had it on a sunset setting and it went fairly good, just not as quick as I would have liked it to be. Soon after I came in and watched out my bedroom window for a bit the lighting had gotten so bold and really long it went from one side of the sky to the other! Wish I would have taken some pictures of them since they were going so often.
Thanks for the tips.
