Spring day at the wildlife refuge

I lucked out and it was a beautiful day on Good Friday so I headed over to the Montezuma National Wildlife Refuge for the day. ; All taken with a Nikon D70 and 80-400VR combination.

It was a very good day. ; Spent the whole day there but took most of the keepers in the first 4 hours after sunrise. ; Great light and lots of wildlife about. ; Later, when more people came out, the waterfowl moved out into the middle of the ponds and the deer disappeared. ; That's when I explored some of the trails which I had never done before and discovered a colony of tree swallows.

Thanks, Jeff, Craig and PM! ; As I blogged, I've been watching GBHs for over 40 years and these are the best photos I've ever gotten of them. ; Of course, it's also the best equipment I've ever had to capture them with, too. ;
