Super Moon tonight

tonight is the Super Moon. Closer to Earth and a full moon. It will appear 14% larger and the largest in 20 years. Hopefully the wind will die down here

I am waiting here for it.

well scott, you can't get much more open than montezuma.

I know, I was having trouble finding anything this open around home. ; I knew this overlook would work. ; I am thinking the D70's 6MP sensor was not up to the task even with the 600mm reach (400mm x 1.5). I bow to Howie's 16MP sensor and 750mm reach. ; :bstar: :rstar:

Cropped even more.

ISO 100, f/8, 1/100, SSS on, yes even on a tripod, it was windy.
300/2.8 w/ 2xTC. ; Still cropped. ; Color corrected, I went out shortly after it went over the horizon.

thanks. Scott your shot is actually more accurate of what it looked like. I de-saturate it and also I bring the exposure down a bit so it shows some detail. I still had to do some cropping also. Now that it is not freezing cold here I want to get some of the partial moons as with the shadow it really brings out the crater detail.
I was at ISO 100 1/60 at F14 on M mode and a tripod of course
Roger what is SSS ? ; super steady shot ? I wish my tamron had VR

Well Scott you got me to go out and try this last night. ;

I did not have as long of a reach as I would have liked so I thought of some other shots that might have a little different take on the moon. ; Almost had a sunrise feel to it instead of a moonrise. ;

My wife mentioned to me about this about the moon & I would have loved to get some pics. However, I am kind of out of commission for a while since I blew out my left knee. Surgery coming this Friday, Maybe I'll get some pics of that. HaHa ; :D

Cool..always like to inspire others (if it wasn't inspiration, than don't tell me! ; ;D )

I tried for some rise photos but I had forgotten how to work the D70!!! ; By the time I had figured it out again, the moon had cleared the treeline. I'll do better next month (weather permitting).

No fooling around this time. ; Put the 80-400VR on the D700 and lashed it to my tripod. ; Weather is going to kill any chance at the full moon this weekend so I grabbed this one tonight. ; Thinking of going after a Moonset in the morning...like 4AM morning.
