Tips for shooting Cindy's frozen castle?

I am heading down to WDW this week to see my alma mater play in the Champs Bowl... and when in rome you see the mouse.

I am looking for some exposure tips for shooting the castle with the new ice effects if anyone has them. I look forward to your help. My family is putting alot of pressure on me to catch a good image or two of the effect.

tripod, stop down to f8-f11, low iso, you need to use a tripod, cable release for the shutter or use the timer, use a tripod,lock up the mirror if an slr, tripod, set shutter time at around 2.5-3.5 seconds to start with, maybe end up around 10 seconds , i found you kind of have to experiment a little, oh and did i mention a tripod is essential

without a steady base you will not get the ice detail sharp, that's why you need to be on a tripod or set up on a trash can

my ice castle shot, the second one i posted was f/11, 10 seconds,iso 100, at 35mm aperture priority
taken with canon 5d and 24-105 f/4 IS lens, mirror locked up, on a tripod with cable release

i went back and looked at your profile, you've got the gear, all you need is to make sure you have the tripod along, set up right in the middle of main street, we were set up right in front of the partners statue, photopass guys were just off to our left, sometimes there's a cart with those light things by this location, where we were will become real apparent when you are standing there

personally i recommend Av of about f/8 - f/11, ISO 100, and watch the exposure because you will need to adjust the exposure compensation +/- a bit to get it right. have fun with this... the castle makes for a beautiful test subject.

I agree with Gary and Tim. I shot f11, iso100, A mode, and used the comp +/- button as needed.

I think I could have got the same results at f8 though with a shorter shutter speed, and less chance of my tripod shaking, just as an afterthought.

Another thought, make sure that after you adjust the comp+/- button you give your camera a second to stop shaking, some of mine show I was rushing (blurred lights).

Manual mode? Use what our technology has given us (an LCD to review) and/or bracket?

Mirror lockup and self timer of hopefully 3+ secs. I know my Bessie shakes for a little more than 2 secs after the mirror locks up....(thank you live view)...so it's 10 sec for me.
