We can go the last week of July or 3rd week of August.

Staying at SSR or OKW. This way the Hamettes can do the parks all day and when I run out of gas I can go back and chill in the room.

We're planning a day or two at WDW, Disney's water parks and Universal to see the new Simpsons ride.

Looking for your experiences with crowds, weather, traffic etc... We've been in August a few times but never in the middle of summer.

Don't know why I asked about the weather it will be hot, humid and pour for 20 minutes every afternoon.

We'll be at SSR from Aug 18 to 22 and then moving to POP and then finishng at AKV. ; We could sip some cocktails by the pool together.

Were planning on only doing the water parks. ; I don't think we could handle WDW in the August heat with 6 month old baby.!!!

I'll let you know where we'll be staying it would be nice to meet up with some folks.
My DD's will be 14 & 9 when we travel this summer.

Just one thing to keep in mind when traveling anywhere in the south in late summer; hurricane season is usually most active from the beginning of August to October.
While it isn't guaranteed to happen, the chances are greater at that time of year, as I experienced one late summer many years ago.
While Orlando is not on the coast, a storm can still put a damper on a trip.
We have often gone down in late July, and yes, it is hot and humid. Some days have short late day storms, not usually long.
However hot and humid don’t really turn us off as I prefer that to cold and miserable (having lived in Canada for so long). Also air conditioning is everywhere.
July is busy as it is a peak, but again crowds don’t really bother us, it just adds to the atmosphere and vitality. Fastpass solves many problems.
Having said the above we may be considered odd, liking the heat and crowds, but that’s us, our perspective.

I have gone in August many times and have found crowds to not be bad at all. ; Many American Schools go back in August, which keeps the number of families around to a minimum. ; Weather is very hot and humid. It can be like breathing soup. ; Don't over exert yourself and drink lots of water.

My most memorable August trip was a 5 day weekend that happened to coincide with Hurricane Charlie. ; It was pretty interesting to see how the resort dealt with such a storm. ; 3 of the parks opened early the morning the storm was to hit. ; We went to the Magic Kingdom. ; I can report that the myth that they remove the castle spires in case of hurricanes is just that. ; Outdoor vending carts were strapped down and wrapped in cellophane. The park closed at 1:00, and when it closed it was closed. ; All the merchandise in the Pirates gift shop was cleared out. ; Windows were shuttered, and gift shop doors were locked. ; There was no browsing on Main Street that day. ;

We were sequestered to our room at Pop Century during the storm, and they refunded one day's admission to all resort guests.

The next day those 3 parks opened again as normal. ; We went to Epcot and played "spot the storm damage". ; It really was a WDW trip I'll never forget.
 
We were in Myrtle Beach in '96 and there was a forced evacuation.

Not too worried about our safety while at Disney. I'd be more worried about damage to the rental car.

Perfect!

Our DD is 12 going on 13 and our other DD is 4 months. ; We are planning to just relax and enjoy the resorts. ; Let me know when you firm up your plans
