Where you put your tripod when traveling by plane? Check bagged, carry on? I’ve flown before, Southwest but have never taken a tripod. The tripod I will be taking is MeFoto Roadtrip. Thank you

i put mine in checked bag, never had a problem. i did take a flight a couple of years ago with tripod strapped to backpack, but the tsa is so vague and it is up to the agent at that security post, that i usually just put it in my checked bag

I have checked my tripod each time I have flown.

Thank you everyone. I will check it. I’ve seen some people separate it, put the legs in the checked bag and head in carryon? Why is this?

Legs are usually cheaper than the head, and with threads either 1/4 or 3/8 bushings can be used, if They Steal Anything victimized you they only get the cheaper parts, my acratech head cost more than the legs it sits on
