Sony NEX users of TMIP!

Image quality, particularly at the lower ISO range, is much better than I had expected. It's hard to compare an $800 Sony to a $6800 Canon and be objective, but I am extremely pleased with my Sony so far.

Since I got the Sony, my canon has not even made it out of the bag. I take it everywhere and really enjoy it. Like you said, the camera is just "fun" to use. I need to post some sample images, because I have gotten very lax on that week.

While it's not as good with action as a DSLR/SLT, you can still use it, even indoors with the slow telephoto lens!

FB strips the EXIF. ; That is ISO 3200.

I'm holding out to see how much the Zeiss zoom is going to cost before I buy a new lens. Although there is a Contax lens locally that I should grab ;-)

One thing I noticed this morning while testing for my excursion is that smart remote control does not work in bulb mode. And unfortunately you only have a wireless IR remote for the NEX-6.

I got the Opteka RC-3 Wireless Remote and figured, $7 can't hurt.

Switch the NEX to IR shutter mode, it works like a charm. ; Haven't tested the distance yet but bulb mode worked perfectly. ; One push open. ; Second push close.

Tim, that is one expensive little UWA. If you like fisheye lenses, the Rokinon 8mm f2.8 is so small and super sharp even at 2.8.

Harry, I'm not a big fan of fisheyes. ; The 10-18 is a little pricey but it is built like a tank. ; Solid.

That's the nicest sell for me - stabilized UWA. ; It's why I love my Alpha series because noone ever made stabilized short fast primes or ultrawides, but Sony and Pentax users have always had them because the stabilization was in-body. ; So it was a pleasant surprise with the NEX lenses to see the 30mm, 50mm, and 10-18mm all come out with stabilization in the lens!

Yeah even though it doesn't have the *exact* same range as Nikon's 16-35 f/4 VR, it's an awfully close competitor.

It's also close to the m4/3 lens made by Panasonic, which is a 7-14mm f/4. ; (14-28) ; The Panny doesn't have IS though; but Olympus bodies would have in-body stabilization.

I just ordered the nex6 with the 16-50 kit lens! I will try out this combo before venturing into other lenses.

thanks!
I dug out my old 2gb sd cards this morning too! They still have pictures from 2008 on them.

Looks like the 18-200 PZ got pushed back another 3 weeks or so...
